Rockbrook Park Student Council

The Council has the following objectives

  1. to be a forum for students to play a full and active part in the life of the school
  2. to foster a sense of loyalty and school pride among all students
  3. to provide opportunities for young people to work in a collegial way for the betterment of all in the school community: students, teachers and parents.

Membership
2 members from each of 1st, 2nd & 3rd Year classes
2 members from each of 4th, 5th and 6th Year classes.
Also a teacher is appointed to liase with the Council.
The principal and vice principal are ex-offico members of all school committees.

Election system
The election is conducted in each year on the same day. Candidates for election put their names forward by a publicised date and the election will be held a few days later. The elections will normally be monitored by an appointed group of Transition year students.
Candidates may all say a few words before the ballot takes place. If there are two seats each elector may vote for two candidates. The candidates receiving the greatest number of votes win.

Responsibility of those elected include

  1. To meet twice monthly at lunchtime
  2. To bring information from meeting back to class groups
  3. To be an exemplary member of the school community
  4. Help improve quality of life within the school for students (and teachers)
  5. To represent the school as required at meetings, functions events
  6. Assist in hosting prominent guests and visitors to the school
  7. Assist with school promotion
  8. Assist with charitable fundraising
  9. To be an advisory body on students views & devising school policies relevant to students
  10. Management of the Student Services Fund
  11. Make monthly award for student job performance .
