| Now
in its fourth decade, Rockbrook has seen a
generation of young people pass through its
doors. They come as boys and leave as men,
many of them now making valuable contributions
in today’s world because of their integrity
as persons. Rockbrook has helped foster that
integrity, working with parents as primary
educators and key partners in the education
of their children.
Now
it is time for Rockbrook itself to move forward
into a new generation. A key component and
a catalyst in this move is the recent granting
of planning permission for phase 1 of the
school development. For many years the school
has floundered due to pressures on space and
to an inability to meet the demands of local
planners. Finally, in February 2006 the school
has been granted permission to construct a
new classroom block, together with canteen,
general purpose area, science laboratory,
art room and chapel on a site behind the existing
Georgian building and courtyard. It is planned
that work will commence this summer for completion
by summer 2007.
This
work will require the support of past pupils
as well present school families for it to
succeed. For years the school has concentrated
on the ‘personal’ element of education,
the aim for this year is to improve the context
in which that education takes place.
As
a past or present member of the school community,
we would appreciate your help in taking this
important generational step forward.
